The Embers Cafe and Splash Pooslide are open every weekend from May through September
Your hosts Shawn and Wesley
Shawn has over thirty years of experience in the food service industry. Wesley worked in food service throughout high school and college and continued to help Shawn in the restaurants as needed. Over the past 27 years of their relationship, they have worked closely together not just in the restaurants but also their community and through their non-profit.
In addition to camping, they both enjoy antique shopping, gardening, traveling, and cooking. Wesley also loves to scuba dive, Harry Potter, reading, and Legos. Shawn enjoys music, leatherwork, and mixology. They have two cats, several chickens, and two apiaries.
I do not know who I appreciate more… our loyal customers or the amazing staff & friends who went on the journey this year with us operating Embers Café and Splash Poolside. Without the friendships and commitments from Jay, Liam, Michael, David, and Billy it would not have been possible to serve the guests of Hillside Campground. Steph, thank you for your friendship and helping on Thanksgiving.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to William, Earl, Jr, and all the staff at Hillside who went above and beyond in helping us out.
We had two rules when we decided to take on operating Embers Café and Splash Poolside… Our friends needed to still be our friends at the end of the season and that camping needed to stay being fun for all of us. I’m glad to say that I think we met both of these goals and we are looking forward to opening Friday, May 2, 2025, with some exciting new changes. Come join our team this season.

In 2024 we were beyond blessed with the entire team that decided to go on this journey with us and are looking forward to their hopeful return in 2025. (Take the hint guys). With that said, we are also looking for additional people to join our team in 2025. If you are interested in joining us, or at least having a conversation with us about it.
It is not a requirement that you are available to work every weekend. We would be happy to have a conversation with you and see if we can work out a schedule that is beneficial and fun for all. We believe that what makes Hillside truly magical is the community and are excited to continue to be a part of the Hillside Campground family.
